Covetousness is showing an inordinate desire for wealth, possessions or for another’s possessions.
And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth (Luke 12:15 KJV)
The exhortation shows very clearly that it is dangerous to have an inordinate desire for wealth and possession. Many have drowned their faith because of covetousness. A covetous person is an idolater; a covetous person is dangerous. People who have an eye for money and possession are very dangerous to deal with.
The Lord Jesus Christ taught us to beware of covetousness. Covetousness is a trap. It will not allow you to think. Covetousness or a quest to make money and acquire possession makes people do the unthinkable.
Covetousness is the spirit of Jezebel; she had everything yet she wants Naboth’s vineyard. The quest for wealth and possession makes people kill and do the unthinkable.
May the Lord deliver us from this evil spirit! Covetousness is a bad spirit; it’s time to free yourself from the beast of greed. Stay blessed and stay strong.
